I have tried the Original and the Bombshell the others should work similarly.
JAWBONE MINI UPDATER SOFTWARE
They also include the software that and the voice is bundled together in one big download. Second, you need one of the voice packages for the Jambox Mini they're down near the end of the page.
JAWBONE MINI UPDATER INSTALL
A dual-boot Mac with Boot Camp should work.) Install the Updater like any Windows application. People have reported that Windows in a virtual machine won't work. So borrow a Windows computer if you must to do this. (Sorry, people with other kinds of computers there is no updating software for Linux and people have reported that the Mac version is unreliable. First, you need the Jawbone Updater for Windows from the top of the page. Visit this page: (The Jawbone web site is gone so you can't get anything from there.) You need two downloads from it. I successfully updated the firmware without any problems. It's a nice speaker for $20, and a stereo pair for $40 also looks appealing (I haven't tried it yet). I just picked up one of those speakers at Micro Center. is there any other relatively inexpensive (sub-$40 each?) BT speaker that can work as a pair, or even just in unison (both playing back the same thing-the firmware was supposed to offer that too)?
JAWBONE MINI UPDATER UPDATE
is there any method that would be 90% certain to work to update the firmware? So, while I can exchange this at Microcenter, I have a pair that I can’t pair (not terrible, but it would have been nice). It didn’t even occur that it might be a problem since they still have the software and firmware online, easily accessible, without even a banner that says “use at your own risk, we don’t support these at all”īut of course, Jawbone isn’t what they used to be, and there doesn’t appear to be any method to get these to work again. I made the unfortunate mistake of trying to install it and bricked one of mine, and reading up I found that looks like it is the most likely outcome.

There was a firmware update that was supposed to offer the ability to use two units a stereo pair. Jawbone is also lowering the price of the Mini Jambox to $130 (down from $180) for a limited time.Microcenter sells the Jambox Mini for $20, which is a pretty good deal for a single speaker that size (they are pretty well made, large clear buttons, and sound pretty good for the size). Today’s software update also brings Jawbone’s “Live Audio” technology to the Mini Jambox, which uses algorithms to recreate stereo sound from a single speaker.
JAWBONE MINI UPDATER BLUETOOTH
The company had to rewrite its Bluetooth communications software to optimize it for running two Mini Jamboxes at the same time. Control over the pair is shared between you and the owner of the other Mini Jambox.Įven though competing wireless speakers (like Logitech’s UE Boom) have offered similar pairing features for a while now, Bogard tells me Jawbone worked hard to make the pairing process simpler and more reliable.

The two devices instantly link up over Bluetooth. Setting up the pairing feature is also surprisingly easy: You just need to hold down the three buttons on the top of the Mini Jambox to put it in pairing mode, then do the same for a nearby unit. The pairing feature works best with loud and poppy music - there wasn’t much of an improvement for quiet classical. But when I tested two units paired together, I noticed that music sounded richer and more lively. But Travis Bogard, Jawbone’s vice president of product management and strategy, tells me the feature is more directed at serendipitous moments when friends end up somewhere with their own Mini Jamboxes.įor its size, the Mini Jambox already delivered decent sound quality. Of course, the new pairing feature could encourage people to buy multiple Mini Jambox.

Rather than pushing consumers to buy new devices every year, Jawbone has focused on improving the product experience for its existing customers with software updates. Updates like this aren’t unusual for Jawbone: The company previously released a software update for the Big Jambox, which improved its sound quality and added two hours of battery life.
